I want to tell you all about what happened last night here in Chefornak. Around 4:30 there was a snow machine accident involving two snow machines and four people. My understanding is that both were going across our lake in opposite directions way too fast. On the one was one of my seniors,Tim, driving, and his sister, Theresa, returning from the clinic with medicine for Theresa's baby. On the other two 8th graders. The collison sent my senior and the driver of the other snow machine to the hospital in Bethel. Tim was medivaced to Anchorage this morning. He has a cuncussion and a broken collar bone - not sure what else. His mother went with him. I have not heard if the other boy, who may have cause the accident, is still in Bethel. The word was he may have a broken back.
Theresa and the passenger of the other snow machine are bruised, but ok.
This is so tragic because Tim is a senor and was headed to the NYO meet in Anchorage in three events. He was last year's MVP and won the Alaskan High Kick.
Please pray for these injured folks and for their families.
Thank you, Sandy

My thoughts go out to all of them. I've many students who are snow machine enthusiasts, and I always worry about moments like this.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the ripple effect of such a traumatic accident is great in a school such as yours. Every tragedy at Su Valley High shock the fiber of the whole school. I hope for the best outcome for all of them.
ReplyDeleteTeenagers speeding on snowmachines think they are invincible. Tim's mission was to get the medicine for Theresa's baby and speed is an adrenaline rush for teenagers. I hope all the injured teens heal quickly and their lives return to normal.
